The exact location of the actual black spot on a 12 foot snooker table, according to the WPBSA rules, is 12 3/4″ from the nose of the top cushion.
The question that many people ask is if this precision is really necessary or does it really matter?
A brief test in Canadian billiard clubs has shown various measurement differences from 12 ” to 12.5″ to even 13″.
The feedback so far has been mixed with some players saying it shouldn’t matter because you simply adjust your aiming while other players believe this is absurd because they sort of “memorize” the angle with all the hours on the practice table, and if the spot location is alittle off, they will miss the shot.
We would love to hear your thoughts and feedback, and we would even love to get your feedback on the measurement of the black spot on table that you play on.
