A strong contingent from Red Deer made the trek down to Calgary on a cold and snowy Saturday for the first qualifier for the Western Canadian Championships. We had a total of 15 players for the new round-robin format and the action was fast and there were some very exciting matches.
Congratulations to Red Deer’s Dwayne Anderson who went undefeated through the round robin then beat a strong Rishabh Kumar 2-1 in the semi final and Albert Kenny 2-1 in the final to claim top spot.
Newcomer Albert Kenny also had a solid tournament, beating David Kutney 2-1 in their semi final match.
